FALCONER — Feedback from area residents is being sought regarding potential improvements to Falconer Park.

The village released a survey for community members who use the park, located off Richard Avenue. As the largest in the village, the park includes ball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, a playground and walking paths.

In the survey, the village indicated that it was exploring improvements to the facilities that “serve the residents in the best possible way in the future.” It follows the update of the overall village plan in 2019, with the park playing a major role.

“Falconer Park has always been a community gathering place where residents go to relax, read a book, catch up with friends and family, or enjoy the many amenities of this beautiful park,” the village said in its investigation. “Falconer, like many local communities, seeks ways to enrich the lives of its residents. In 2019, the village completed an update to its comprehensive plan which essentially provides a roadmap to guide the community’s short and long term goals. Creating a happy and healthy community is a primary goal for this village. »

In the survey, the village noted that due to its age, the tennis court needed maintenance. Potential options include repairing the pitch, reassigning it to another sport or activity, or removing the pitch altogether.

The investigation also explores the possibility of installing a dog park.

“A number of municipalities in Chautauqua County have built dog parks in recent years,” indicates the survey. “If you are a dog owner, would you take your dog to a dog park if one was built in Falconer Village?”

Another specific question: “A community service organization has volunteered to fund and install a dog park in Falconer Park. What are your thoughts?”

A link to the survey can be found on the Falconer Village Facebook page; a hard copy is also available at the Falconer Public Library and the Village Clerk’s Office. The survey will be available until Wednesday, April 20.

Anyone with questions is asked to call the Village offices at 716-665-4400.
