North Houston area business owner giving back to the community with supportive initiatives

Community members in northern Harris County will benefit from a range of opportunities to feed, immunize and support their families thanks to local business owner Tiffany Magee.

Magee, a native of Louisiana and a resident of Texas since 2014, uses her Showtime Bar and Lounge business and event planning background to host events featuring vaccinations, school supplies and more for the remainder of 2021.

Magee was previously the State Director of Miss Black Louisiana USA for four years, awarding more than $ 10,000 in prizes and scholarships. She also created the Couture for a Cause show in New Orleans.

“I’ve always organized community service events,” Magee said. “I was the state director of Miss Black Louisiana USA and when I did, my applicants were required to host a community service event.”

Magee originally opened Showtime after seeing popular sports bars in South Houston and wanting the North Side to have the same kind of fun opportunities. Showtime has hosted musical artists like Kool Moe Dee and single mixers for the cast of the own reality show “Ready to Love”.

“Inspiration takes many forms and I truly believe these events are exactly what we need right now to meet the needs of so many residents who are still grappling with the financial impact of the pandemic,” said Magee in a press release. “Giving back by helping others is a natural part of my DNA and my education. “

Magee has also partnered with local black-owned businesses such as Juggle Learning, Safe Place, and Paul Fadez to provide services for their events, such as the Community Back-to-School Giveaway in August or the Turkey Giveaway. Thanksgiving in November.

“The state we are in the country, I thought it was imperative that we collaborate and unite and help the community,” Magee said. “We get support, that’s how our businesses can be supported, so it’s inevitable for us to give back to those who can’t even support us.”

The plan is to continue philanthropic events in Showtime after 2021, Magee said, but for now, she is busy preparing for upcoming events, such as recruiting volunteers for an upcoming event to feed the sans- shelter.

The events are as follows:

July 25, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m .: Free meals + food drive – Guests are asked to bring non-perishable and / or non-perishable canned goods for the Houston Food Bank.
