Maurice Patry receives the 2021 MASCI learning excellence award

Each year, MI trains more than 1,000 apprentices in apprenticeship manufacturing and trades programs. Local 252 and the ISU team are proud to announce that Maurice Patry is one of two recipients of the 2021 MASCI Learning Excellence Award.

There are many exceptional apprentices produced by the trades each year, and the selection has been difficult this year. Mauritius’ strong participation in community support organizations such as Union 4 Life and ReNew makes him an outstanding candidate. The team from Local 252 JATC and the journeyman who worked with Maurice in the field played a major role in his development as a journeyman. In addition to community service, MASCI also examines punctuality at work and in the classroom, commitment to business, employer and industry, outstanding craftsmanship and productivity, leadership skills, hard work teamwork, safety awareness, competitiveness and community service.

Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee, Inc., MASCI, is an advocacy group made up of professionals from Michigan’s education, manufacturing, construction trades and government departments. MASCI’s goal is to educate Michigan’s workforce and employer groups on the benefits of participating in registered apprenticeship. The concept of apprenticeship is “Earn as you learn”, in a desired trade while creating some of the most marketable and skilled workers in the job market. MASCI provides several resources for individuals to chart a career path of their choice as well as to assist employers in the development of apprenticeship programs.

Congratulations Maurice!
