Lynchburg Plunge challenges participants to brave the cold by diving into the James River

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Fancy a challenge?

The cold weather can be tough enough to get out of, but how about getting into the cold James River?

If that’s something you want to experience, you can take part in the Lynchburg Plunge on Saturday, February 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The event is held in conjunction with the Lynchburg Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue Team at Percival’s Island.

The entry fee is $25 for Lynchburg residents and $35 for non-residents.

A portion of all proceeds will go to the Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund, which helps make Parks and Recreation activities, classes, and camps affordable for all Lynchburg residents.

All attendees will receive a Lynchburg Plung beanie at the event. Attendees will also receive an email two days prior to the event with additional information including arrival time and a map showing check-in and dive site location.
