Kelowna transit service hit by labor shortage – Okanagan

Kelowna Transit is warning passengers that bus service may change due to a labor shortage.

“Like many other customer-facing organizations, BC Transit is currently facing a labor shortage,” read the notice distributed Monday. “This challenge has a significant impact on BC Transit’s ability to provide reliable scheduled service.

Current impacts on service have resulted in the need to modify schedules on short notice to reflect the changing conditions in the Kelowna regional transportation network.

To minimize the impact of these service issues on customers, BC Transit and the operating company immediately post alerts on the website once trip cancellations are confirmed.

To provide more stability of service during this difficult time, BC Transit is developing a short-term reduced service schedule that is expected to come into effect in early January 2022.

Once finalized, BC Transit will communicate this new schedule to the public, ensuring that there is sufficient notice to customers.
