Frederick County Police Pack Police Car for Homeless People | WDVM25 and DCW50

FREDERICK, Md. (WDVM) – The Frederick Police Department has partnered with the Frederick Department of Housing and Human Services to host their 7th annual Pack a Police Car event.

Police officers from Frederick were dispatched on a very special mission. To pack the police car with goods to help local homeless shelters.

“We do a lot of community service throughout the year, but during the holidays we find it very important to make sure that the less fortunate have the things they need,” said Sgt. Rebecca. Corrado.

As people came in to shop, they also came out to drop off items to go to the pile. Police cars were filled with bags containing non-perishable food and hygiene items.

“We are asking for non-perishable food and outdoor supplies for our homeless people. Tents, sleeping bags, underwear and socks are always needed, ”explained Jason Decker, Outreach Supervisor. “Our goal is to uplift people so that they too can help to be more, to contribute more and to the community itself.”

Frederick’s Housing and Human Resources Department assists an average of 1,000 people with the programs they offer.
