Best Cleaners Celebrates Opening of West Hartford with Community Engagement – We-Ha

At a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, November 18, Best Cleaners donated $ 1,000 to Westmoor Park.

Best Cleaners celebrated the official opening of its new location at 17 Sedgwick Road in West Hartford on November 18, welcoming city officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce, and presenting a significant donation to a local organization which, like the company, is known for its environmental orientation.

Best Cleaners is proud to use an environmentally friendly dry cleaning method and has won the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Green Circle Award. Best Cleaners was one of the first cleaners in Connecticut to convert to an environmentally friendly dry cleaning process, GreenEarth, and was recognized in 2002 for voluntarily implementing a pollution prevention plan at the scale of the establishment.

“We are delighted to be in the West Hartford community and truly appreciate the warm welcome we have received,” said McCann. “We are impressed with the passion and commitment that community members have for their city, and happy to support the educational and recreational programs offered at Westmoor Park. Their mission is important and impacts us all in Connecticut.

The third generation, 67-year-old family-owned dry-cleaning company rented the vacant location that had previously been occupied by Victoria Cleaners – and before that by Sedgwick Cleaners – in June 2021. They completely renovated the interior space, and a had a smooth opening at the end of October. Best Cleaners, founded in 1954 by William McCann Jr., is based in Middletown, and the West Hartford Storefront is their 14th location.

They offer same-day GreenEarth cleaning, as well as on-site sewing and laundry service, as well as free delivery. The company is also known for its commitment to customer service and community service.

Best Cleaners is currently wrapping up its statewide “Coats for Connecticut” campaign, run in conjunction with other local businesses. The company collects and cleans lightly used winter coats and warm clothing, which are then delivered to Salvation Army centers.

The West Hartford store is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items dropped off before 9:00 a.m. (8:30 a.m. Saturday) may be ready to be picked up by 4:00 p.m. same day.
