Baby born on flight named ‘Sky’ after woman went into early labor

A woman gives birth to a healthy baby mid-flight.

A woman gave birth to a healthy baby in the lavatory of a Frontier Airlines flight to Florida, according to a report in the Independent. The report is based on a Facebook post from the airlines.

According to the post, the passenger went into early labor while flying from Denver to Orlando. Diana Giraldo, a flight attendant, took the woman to the bathroom and helped her deliver.

Chris Nye, the captain of Frontier Airlines, praised the heroic task of Diana Giraldo in two words: “Exemplary” and “calm”.

“Diana went out of her way again after the flight ended to coordinate our return to Orlando,” the captain said, as mentioned in the Facebook post.

“The whole team really did a great job. I transferred control and flight duties to my first officer while I coordinated the diversion. Dispatch also did a great job suggesting Pensacola airport and arranging a gate and paramedics for us. It was a job well done, and I was happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an airplane,” Chris Nye added in the post.

The woman kept the newborn’s middle name “Sky” as a tribute to her arrival at high altitude, the airline said, also sharing the photo of the little one.

The post has received over 2,500 likes and over 349 shares on Facebook since its publication.
Users praised the airline’s teamwork and congratulated the woman and the newborn baby.

“Amazing. Great teamwork. Congratulations mom and her baby,” one user wrote.

“Good job bravo congratulations to all this beautiful little wonder she is magnificent”, commented a second Internet user.
